Har-co Credit Union Completion of $10,000 Building Bright Minds Grant

December 2, 2025 – Bel Air, MD – Har-co Credit Union is proud to announce the successful completion of the Har-co Credit Union Building Bright Minds Grant, a $10,000 investment made in partnership with the Harford County Education Foundation to empower Harford County Public Schools (HCPS)educators and enrich student learning across the county.

Originally announced in July 2025, the Building Bright Minds Grant was created to support innovative classroom initiatives that foster critical thinking, creativity, and deeper engagement. Har-co Credit Union marked Giving Tuesday by fully funding the grant, enabling teachers to bring their imaginative, student-centered ideas to life. "Har-co Credit Union was founded on the principle of supporting our educators." says Gil Kennedy, President and CEO. "By providing this $10,000 grant, we’re continuing that mission and helping create pathways to learning, growth, and long-term success for students in our community. When we invest in education, we invest in the future of the Harford County."

Funding from the Building Bright Minds Grant supported the following HCPS school projects:

  • Edgewood     Elementary School – Community Garden
  • Edgewood     Middle School – The RAM page Readers Club
  • Forest     Hill Elementary School – Empowering Retriever Leaders
  • George     D. Lisby Elementary School at Hillsdale – The Hover Craft Project
  • Harford     Technical High School – Life Skills Coffee Shop and Bakery
  • Riverside     Elementary School – Let’s Write!
  • Roye-Williams     Elementary School – Touch it! See it! Read it!

Through these grants, educators were able to deliver hands-on, meaningful enrichment that sparks curiosity and elevates learning in powerful ways. “I am thrilled that Har-co can support the foundation through these grants, helping to empower teachers and unlock every child’s potential, ”said Erin McComas, Director of Member Experience and Engagement. “As a parent of a Harford County Public School student, I am excited we could team up with Harford County Education Foundation to bring the Building Bright Minds Grants to life for our teachers.”
